HOME
Laughter in the air, peace in the corners-
Sunshine dancing on the walls with rustling leaves,
Comfort among heavy limbs in dreamy slumber.
Smells of baking bread and a chicken roasting in the oven,
Hoyas sprouting new stems reaching towards the bright light,
The chorus of a song returns to gather me up in a warm embrace.
A figure naps on the couch as I turn the page in my book,
Don’t know what’s coming next but it’s overflowing with possibilities.
I look inside my heart and see hope stirring, blinking sleepy eyes.
It’s as if I’ve been here before, but I haven’t- not yet.
This home that allows unconditional love and joy to utterly be-
And knowing that I belong with them, and they with me.
