Day 9: June 29, 2021
40 minutes, 3,455 steps, 1.48 miles.

This morning, my mind was empty and I was just going through the motions of walking. Everything just felt dull around the edges. Twenty minutes of just putting one heavy foot in front of the other.
A little flash of light out of the corner of my eye. Then another…and again. I started scanning my surroundings until I realized it was much closer than I thought. Nearly cross-eyed with intent focus, I finally saw it. The sun trailing along the fibers and textures of the living space around me. Lighting up pathways along the edges of everything, laying bare the infinite and minute details of Creation. Wild weeds become a thing of beauty, a little red bucket abandoned on a pond thrumming with activity on the surface- murky darkness below; a black dog prances on the rain soaked hill- laughing puffs of steam from his grinning muzzle, a thousand droplets flying through the air as he chased his ball.
My heart feels lighter, somehow. Pockets of light and joy despite it all.
